Leaks in routinely used fixtures should be noticed during use. However, inspection time might be a good opportunity to acknowledge and repair a drip you’ve gotten used to.
Houses commonly have valves that are routinely open, such as a valve that shuts off water to part of the house. Since they are not routinely turned, they may become stuck. Exercising them (close-open-close-open) keeps them free and easy to turn if needed in an emergency or to perform a repair. If a valve has not been exercised in a long time, proceed slowly and watch for leaks around stems.
